I have often wondered what would be the best vehicle to live in if I was homeless. This vehicle would need to fit certain criteria to meet my needs or any homeless persons needs. Here is my list of requirements; it must be spacious, get good gas mileage, be reliable, versatile, and fairly inexpensive.

Drive2.ru is tracked by us since April, 2011. Over the time it has been ranked as high as 587 in the world, while most of its traffic comes from Russian Federation, where it reached as high as 21 position.

The logical choice would be a truck or a van right? Not really, both have the space and a versatile, but mileage wouldn’t be that great, and depending on the manufacturer, cost can be high and reliability can be low. The next choice would be an SUV. There are a lot out there that offer all of these things, but which one would be the best? Obviously an import for reliability, maybe A Toyota Rav4, or 4 runner, some of the new KIA models are nice. What about a Honda Cr v or Pilot? A used KIA might cost around $5-$7k, a Rav4 and 4 Runner are going to be pushing $10k or higher, and the same for the Cr v and Pilot. Other downsides to these pics are the size, the 4 Runner and Pilot are kinda big, which means lower fuel economy, the Rav4 and Cr v are just the opposite, almost too small.

I have one other option….The car that I think tends to be over looked because of its design and lack of popularity is the Honda Element.

It has all of the things that I would want in a mobile living space. I found a 2005 Element at a local Honda dealer, the car is listed for just under $8k, still a little high but worth it. Personally I think the Element is a lot like a TARDIS, its bigger on the inside.

The two rear seats fold up and out of the way, or flat to make a place to sleep.

Their is an optional tent that can hooked to the rear hatch to add space, not while drive of course.

And with a roof rack you can store your homeless person stuff up to with out crowding you living space.

It the Element perfect? Probably not, but its my pick. Fuel economy is decent, 21 city and 24 highway, it has the legendary Honda reputation for reliability, and its defiantly versatile. So, if your homeless, or thinking of becoming homeless, take the Element into consideration as your home on wheels, whether your in the city or the country, or moving from town to town, it just might be right car for you.

The Element has formed quite a following, and seem to be quite easy to customize the inside much like a camper. for more information check out the Element owners club.
